For the person whose camera roll is 94% dog. None of them shock anyone, and every price was checked.

Every dog person has a friend who’s impossible to buy for. Except they’re not, because that friend has a dog, and the dog is the whole personality now.
Here are seven funny gifts: three priced in US dollars, four from Canadian shops priced in Canadian dollars. They cover sock-based tributes, coffee-based parody and fur-based damage control. US prices were checked on October 17, 2026 and will change, because the universe is chaos.
The Rules We Shopped By
- US shops first. The first three picks are on US retailer or maker pages, priced in US dollars.
- Actually funny. Or at least funny to someone who calls their dog “sir”.
- Nothing that hurts dogs. No gag shock collars, no “joke” prong accessories, no novelty spray bottles. Pain isn’t a punchline. If you want to know why, start with the shock collar research.
For the Human Who Is Mostly Dog Hair Now
The ChomChom Roller is a reusable fur remover with a built-in collection chamber and no sticky sheets. PetSmart lists the Angry Orange edition at $19.99. It’s not a joke gift so much as a cry for help, in roller form.
The best gift for a dog person is anything that admits the dog is in charge.
For the Dog (Which Is Really for the Human)
Watching a dog unwrap a squeaky thing is peak entertainment.
- ZippyPaws Popcorn Bucket. Three squeaky popcorn pieces in a plush bucket, for digging and foraging, listed at $20.99 on ZippyPaws. Movie night for dogs who don’t care about the movie.
The toy maker asks for supervised play and for toys to be binned when damaged. Pass that note on with the gift wrap.
For the Friend Who Thinks Their Dog Is a Genius
The FluentPet Speak Up! Tester Kit lists at $40 for the Bold version ($45 for Neutral). Record “outside” and “play” and see what happens.
What talking buttons really tell us about dog communication is still being worked out, so we’re not promising a philosopher. We are promising at least one 3 a.m. “OUTSIDE”. Want the real science on dogs and words? Read why dogs tilt their heads.
Shopping by Budget (US)
Prices as shown on October 17, 2026, before tax and shipping:
- Stocking stuffers (under $25): the ChomChom roller ($19.99) and the ZippyPaws popcorn bucket ($20.99).
- The splurge: the FluentPet tester kit ($40).
Canadian Picks (Priced in CAD)
If you’re shopping in Canada, or you like your gifts with a maple leaf on the box, these four are sold by Canadian shops. Prices are in Canadian dollars and were checked on October 17, 2026. We haven’t confirmed that these shops ship to the US, so check before you order from stateside.
- SOXOS Classic Pet Face Socks, CA$24.95. Made to order at the company’s Toronto warehouse. You upload a photo, approve a design, and your friend gets to wear their dog’s face on their feet. SOXOS says pet sock purchases support the charity Save Our Scruff. Order early, since they’re made after you approve the design.
- Tim Pawtons, CA$14.99. A plush, squeaky parody coffee cup from Pawty Animals. The tagline promises it’s “double-double the fun”.
- HugSmart Bento Box, CA$17.99. A plush bento box with three rice balls your dog has to paw and burrow out.
- Growl Ava the Avocado, CA$7.99. Three squeakers in one avocado. A gift for the dog and a test of the owner’s patience.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Want to go big? Give the gift of a better walk. Our pain-free training kit puts a treat pouch, clicker, long line, front-clip harness and lick mat together for about $61. Less funny, more life-changing. Or check out more oddities in weird dog products that actually exist.
Your dumb questions
Are these gifts for the dog or the human?
Both. The socks and the fur roller are for the human. The toys are for the dog, which is also for the human, because watching a dog open a present is the actual gift.
What about a funny shock collar or ‘training remote’ gag gift?
Hard pass. There’s nothing funny about a tool that hurts dogs. Our take is in the shock collar research post.
Can I give a dog toy without supervision instructions?
The toy makers ask for supervision and for toys to be removed if they’re damaged. Pass that on with the gift.
Do talking buttons mean my dog can talk?
They mean your dog can press a button that plays a word. What dogs understand when they do that is still being studied. It’s fun either way.
